For men:

Wear a two-piece suit; with a crisp shirt and tie

Don't carry wallet in the back pocket of suit - it ruins the lines

Don't buy cheap ties - they will downgrade even a $500 suit

Green and brown detract from business look

Don't wear short socks and expose hairy legs

Don't wear wrinkled shirts; have them professionally laundered and starched

Use pant cuffs only on less formal suits, like those of tweed or with patterns

Don't wear heavy wing-tipped shoe - it makes your feet look big, and your ankles skinny

Leave off your pinkie ring; it gives the image of con man or gambler

For women:

Wear a two-piece suit with a crisp blouse; skirt, or trouser (skirt is more formal)

Hemlines should hit right below the knee

Light, well applied makeup gives polish and is an inexpensive way to professionalize your image

Wear your hair up if it's longer than shoulder length

Don't wear fragrances; people can be allergic or it can detract from your professional image
